The adjustment follows a legislative change affecting the toll system. The operator emphasised that hauliers must pay particular attention to ensuring their payment is successfully processed, as the validity period starts at the moment of successful transaction confirmation.
Route tickets can only be purchased online via bank card on the hu-go.hu website.
Apart from the new time limit, all existing rules regarding route tickets remain in place. Each ticket grants authorisation for a single, uninterrupted journey, based on the vehicle parameters specified at the time of purchase.
Modifications, transfers, or refunds of the ticket are not permitted.
Penalties for non-compliance
HU-GO has warned that hauliers who fail to comply with the new rules will face severe penalties. Fines range from 47,000 to 70,000 forints (115-170 euros), depending on the category of vehicle, and can reach up to 281,000 forints (690 euros) in serious cases.
Road toll operator recommend use of on-board unit
HU-GO continues to encourage hauliers to use on-board units (OBUs) for toll payments, citing their greater flexibility compared to route tickets. Vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes can pay tolls through an OBU linked to a HU-GO pre-paid account. This requires registration in the HU-GO system and an agreement with an NTPS Plc.-approved toll declaration operator, who will transfer road use data to HU-GO.
