The Fratta Nord and Sud sites will add 161 parking spaces for articulated lorries, refrigerated trucks, and camper vans, along with comprehensive facilities for drivers. These include buildings with toilets, showers, self-service laundry, and refreshment points, all under continuous video surveillance.

A real-time information display will also provide updates on parking space availability.

In the words of Massimiliano Fedriga, Commissioner and President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the project is “strategic in the context of the construction of the third lane” on the A4, as it “will allow for an improvement in the quality of service and safety conditions for all, with particular attention to that of drivers of articulated lorries, in the knowledge that freight transport represents an important asset for the development of this productive area.”

The Fratta Nord area, covering 5.9 hectares (2.8 hectares paved), will offer 99 heavy vehicle spaces, 8 designated for refrigerated vehicles, and 8 camper spaces. 11 bus spaces will be added, while 35 existing spaces remain in use.

The surrounding area will feature 2.1 hectares of woodland and 2.5 hectares of grassland to enhance the environment.

Fratta Sud, which covers 2.4 hectares (1.5 hectares paved), will include 48 heavy vehicle spaces, including 4 refrigerated trucks and 6 caravan spaces. Seven additional bus bays will replace existing parking.

Both areas will have emergency access points and a section for damaged vehicle recovery, equipped with containment systems for hazardous spills.

The project, funded by Autostrade Alto Adriatico at €13.47 million, is intended to address risks from irregular parking, particularly for freight vehicles.
