TV and radio personality Jeremy Vine, well known for generating controversy filming his regular cycling journeys in London, has shown how a man carrying Amazon parcels branded him a “pr*ck".

The exchange was captured on Vine’s helmet camera and was uploaded to his Twitter account on Thursday. Vine described the incident as “bloody ridiculous” and tagged Amazon UK.

In the 24-second clip, Vine is seen pedalling in the cycle lane before moving out of the lane onto the road to cut across a van.

As the TV and radio presenter moves around the van, a man carrying Amazon parcels, presumed to be a delivery driver, walks across the street and spots Vine.

The man then turns his head towards the Radio 2 host and says “Vine you pr*ck!”. Vine then replies “What, me?”, prompting the man to say “pr”ck” and “f*ck” before crossing onto the pavement and walking away.

Besides the exchange, which many of Vine’s detractors seemed to have enjoyed, the actions of the parcel courier, Vine himself and the pedestrians in video, attracted plenty of debate.

Some Twitter users criticised the van driver for not giving way, while others said Vine should have showed common sense by slowing down and not riding around the van. Moreover, some claimed Vine did not give way to pedestrians crossing the road, thus violating the new user hierarchy in the highway code.

The incident featuring Vine comes almost a year after he slammed a Waitrose lorry driver for having ‘close-passed’ a police officer on a bike. However, the driver was later backed by Waitrose and was not subject to any disciplinary action whatsoever.

Back in November, Vine also revealed video footage of a bin lorry crew member pushing a wheelie bin into his path while he was on his bike. The Channel 5 presenter’s tweet sparked widespread debate in the comments section.

Many criticised the refuse worker for a lack of professionalism, while others claimed Jeremy Vine should have slowed down in anticipation of a possible hazard given the bin lorry’s hazard lights were on.
