The fine relates to a case from October 2022 in which unsecured cargo fell off a trailer in South Wales. According to the police, it was fortunate nobody had been killed as a result of what happened.

Police also said at the time that the securing equipment was in poor condition. A strap had snapped & the reel had ended up on the pavement.

The DVSA recently published information on the court verdict concerning the incident. The driver pleaded guilty to operating the vehicle in a dangerous condition, with magistrates issuing a fine/costs of £866.

“It can go wrong, it does go wrong. Fortunately no one was hurt this time. Please take Load Security seriously, help protect lives,” said the DVSA on Twitter.
