Writing about the case on Facebook, NI Road Policing and Safety said:

“ANPR Intercept Team officers with the assistance of officers from Police Air Support Unit (already in the area) located and stopped this foreign registered vehicle today, the driver was suspected of a number of drive offs from fuel stations whilst using various stolen number plates.”

For those keen to know where the lorry likely came from, a number of followers of the NI Road Policing page took issue with the admin’s use of the word foreign. Some Facebook users had spotted the vehicle in the photo was almost certainly from Ireland due to it being right-hand drive and having Irish discs on its window.

Officers confirmed that the driver was arrested on suspicion of the offences and will now be interviewed in relation to them.
