Lorry driver’s death believed to have been caused by accident during truck repair

A 39-year-old lorry driver who was found dead under his vehicle in a parking area in Zeebrugge is believed to have been killed in an accident that occurred when he was trying to repair his truck.

Reports in the Belgian media state that the driver, from Tajikistan, was found dead just after 9am on Sunday morning.

Although the emergence services had been called, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene when the paramedics arrived.

The circumstances that led to the lorry’s driver’s death are being investigated.

According to multiple Belgian media reports, lorry drivers parked in the same area as the deceased driver said that the man from Tajikistan had been busy repairing his truck when things went wrong. The initial findings of the police are said to have been consistent with this.

The trucker was reportedly set to take over from his colleague, but noticed a defect in the truck that he wished to repair himself. It was during the repair that an accident occurred that fatally crushed the lorry driver.
