A lorry driver named Wayne Samuel, 56, of Gwent in South Wales, pleaded guilty to the offence at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, reports local news site Lynn News.
The court heard that Samuel had been sent a letter from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) on February 6, informing him that he could no longer drive a lorry of a certain weight due to a medical condition.
However, Samuel told the court that he was working away all week and did not see the letter.
Prosecutor Katharine Kibrya-Dean said that Samuel was stopped by police while driving a lorry on the A47 at Lynn on February 10.
Samuel has 42 previous convictions, but none since 2001.
In mitigation, Ruth Johnson, representing Samuel, said that he had previously contacted the DVLA to inform them of his health condition. She said that Samuel had since found a different lorry-driving job that was in accordance with his licence.
Magistrates fined Samuel £116 and added three penalty points to his licence and ordered him to pay £105 in court costs and a £46 victim surcharge.
