Greater Manchester Police's road policing unit were out in force again yesterday, resulting in one lorry driver being handed a Traffic Offence Report.

As explained by the police on Twitter, the lorry driver stopped in a controlled zone of crossing so as to purchase a drink from a convenience store.

He thus caused an obstruction to the junction/crossing, says the police.

The trucker was issued with a Traffic Offence Report.

As stated by Northumbria Police, those who are given Traffic Offence Reports are typically fined. However, drivers may be given the option to attend a driver training course as an alternative to a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) or a court appearance.

“If you pay a fixed penalty ticket, all liability for the offence is discharged and the offence doesn’t form part of your criminal record. A recipient of a fixed penalty notice has two options, either to pay the ticket and surrender their licence where required, or request a court hearing,” says Northumbria police, explaining the procedure when a driver is fined.

Meanwhile, besides the offence described above, Greater Manchester Police also issued PG9 and GFPNs to the driver of a lorry carrying telegraph poles with a 4.3-meter overhang.

Finally, two other commercial vehicles  checked by Greater Manchester Police were were found to be overloaded, including this one:
