A truck driver has had pay a fine of SEK 9,400 (approximately €980) after being caught using another HGV driver’s tachograph card in Sweden.
The infringement was discovered by road police officers operating on the E4 near Norrbotten last Wednesday.
According to the police, the inspection was progressing as normal until the driving and rest times were checked. It was at this point that the police discovered the driver had been driving with another driver’s card.
The trucker was fined SEK 9,400, while the haulier also risks a fine.
Officers described the incident as “Systematic cheating that puts healthy competition out of play.”
