A lorry driver in Italy has been fined 1,200 euros because he was over the upper age limit in Italy for HGV drivers.
According to local Brescia paper quibrescia.it, the driver was 70 years old. The incident happened last week in Lombardia, Northern Italy.
During a routine roadside control, police stopped an articulated vehicle with a suspected overload.
While the officers weighed the vehicle set, they also checked the driver’s documents. It was found that the trucker had almost reached the age of 70.
As the upper age limit to drive heavy goods vehicles in Italy 65 (or up to 68 on the basis of a medical examination), the officers fined the driver 1,200 euros and also suspended his driving license from 4 to 8 months.
