Lorry seized near Wolverhampton after attempt to steal 13,000 litres of fuel

An abandoned lorry has been seized by police officers near Wolverhampton after an attempt to steal 13,000 litres of fuel.

According to PCSO Louise Jones of South Staffordshire Police, the lorry was founded abandoned by officers and the thieves who had been inside it were “long gone” by the time police arrived at the scene.

The truck, which was involved in attempt to steal 13 drums of fuel holding 1,000 litres each, was found in in fields off Wolverhampton Rd near Hollybush garden centre on the night of 15-16 December.

The police have urged anyone who has any information in relation to this to call 101, quoting ref 176, 16/12/2022.

The incident comes amid a widely-reported increase in fuel theft sparked by high prices.
