“I see the captain of the Ever Given has a new job!” commented a Facebook user under a photo North Dorset police posted on Tuesday when an articulated lorry got stuck on St John’s Hill, Shaftesbury.

Cleaning the road didn’t take as much time as the Suez Canal incident, but it still took 2 hours during the afternoon school run period.

Shaftesbury police officers currently have an artic stuck (no surprise) on St John’s Hill/Bimport. It will be closed for a while & doing a great impression of the Suez boat at the same time – posted police on its Facebook page.

The unfortunate incident happened because of the closure of Coles Lane for resurfacing. There is an official diversion, but the HGV driver seemed to prefer an unofficial detour.

Residents of St John’s Hill have been campaigning for a 7,5-ton restriction of the road and they hope that after this accident, Dorset Council would consider the possibility of introducing the weight limit, report local radio show the Alfred Daily.
