Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has recently submitted a bid for Clasquin, a French logistics company listed in Paris.
According to a report by Yahoo Finance, MSC has granted Clasquin’s top two shareholders an extension until the end of Q1 the following year to make a decision on the potential sale. The bid values Clasquin at an enterprise value of €325 million ($351 million).
MSC, with a net profit of €36.2 billion last year, has been strategically expanding its logistics infrastructure. Notably, the company recently formed a new venture with Italy’s state-run Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane to enhance the freight transport logistics network connecting Italian ports with the rest of Europe.
In September, MSC secured a partnership to revitalize Spain’s national rail freight operator Renfe Mercanias, while in August, MSC acquired a majority stake in AlisCargo Airlines, a Milan-based air freight carrier.
Notably, MSC’s most significant acquisition in the previous year was the $6.3 billion purchase of Bolloré Africa Logistics.
