The Czech-Slovak Consortium will take over the instalment of tolls in the Czech Republic in December this year. It will be necessary to replace the onboard devices, too.

The current operator of the Czech toll system, the Kapsch company, will manage it until the end of November. On 1 December, the Czech-Slovak consortium CzechToll and SkyToll will arrange the instalment of road tolls in the Czech Republic.

As a result, the onboard devices of the Austrian company Kapsch will no longer work. Instead, UTA boxes will collect the road tolls in the Czech Republic.

The new operator will use flexible satellite technology that combines a global satellite positioning system (GNSS) with microwave technology (DSRC). The use of this technology will allow servicing the ever-growing number of vehicles on the roads without the need to create expensive tolling infrastructure.
