The devices will record drivers who do not comply with one of the provisions. All for the sake of their safety.

50 radars were launched in Spain on September 11 to ensure driver safety. These devices will, in fact, record motorists who did not fasten their seatbelts.
A total of 220 such devices will appear on Spanish motorways and roads of a lower category.

A warning at first

General Directorate of Traffic in Spain (DGT) informs that an educating campaign will be conducted for the first two months. People caught with no seatbelts on will only get a warning. After that period, however, the absent-minded will have to pay a fine of 200 euros and get 3 penalty points.

Seatbelts for your safety

Radars are one of the DGT plans, the goal of which is to reduce the number of road accident fatalities.

Last year 1160 people died on Spanish roads. Approximately 15% of them did not have their seatbelts fastened.

DGT stresses that seatbelts are the most important element of passive safety which reduces the risk of death in a car accident by 60%.
