Technical problems with a supplier of tachograph cards have resulted in at least 600 drivers in Norway being without their new cards. As a consequence, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration have had to come up with a temporary solution.

In a statement, he Norwegian Public Roads Administration explains that drivers affected by the production problem can drive using printouts from the tachograph. They must also be in possession of their expired card and a have a copy of their application for a new card.

“As of today, there are between 600 and 700 drivers waiting for cards they have applied for. This applies to both new cards and renewal of existing cards. The temporary solution we have now put in place applies to national transport,” says Roy Harald Holm of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

The issue that the supplier of the cards is facing has not been disclosed; it also unknown when the problem will be remedied.

“We take this matter seriously and shall follow up with the supplier closely. We have received assurances that they are working intensively to get production back up. I hope the error is detected and corrected as soon as possible,” says Holm.
