The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has once again extended the temporary, national exemption from driving and rest time rules.
As a result, It is permitted for professional drivers to take normal weekly rest in the cabin until 1 June.
According to the Norway’s Road Transport Association, the country’s Public Roads Administration states that “the exception applies provided that there are suitable sleeping places for each driver and that the vehicle is stationary”.
The new exemption granted by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration applies from 1 April to 1 June 2021, and is an extension of three previous exemption periods. The previous exception was valid until 1 April.
The decision is in line with a decision by the EFTA Surveillance Authority ESA, and is due to the corona pandemic.
