The focus of this investment is a newly established 30,000 m² hub and headquarters in Bologna, strategically positioned to enhance accessibility from northern, central, and southern Italy.

The Bologna hub, complemented by two regional hubs in Mesero, Milan, and Avellino in the Campania region, is designed to facilitate the swift shipment of goods across Italy, aiming for delivery within 24 to 48 hours.

Advanced technologies developed by the Palletways Group are integral to realising the stated objective. The forthcoming expansion of Palletways ID, an innovative technology leveraging forklift truck-mounted sensor technology for real-time information capture, is planned beyond its demonstrated success in the United Kingdom and Spain.

Also, the logistics giant is committed to enhancing its customer-centric features, such as developing new functionalities on its app. This includes the introduction of a 'live exception code’ to complement the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) function, responding to customer demands for real-time information on their shipments.

Emphasising their commitment to environmental sustainability, the newly established facility in Bologna has been awarded a „Very Good” certification by BREEAM. The building incorporates eco-friendly features such as 1,100 photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater recycling and reuse measures, the planting of over 100 trees, and a cycle path connecting the industrial area with Osteria Nuova train station in Sala Bolognese.

Luis Zubialde, CEO of Palletways Group, highlighted the significance of the new hub, describing it as a pivotal milestone for both the Palletways Group and its Italian network. He stressed that “the facility is designed with environmental considerations and integrates the latest technological developments to ensure the highest levels of quality, resulting in improved transit times and more efficient operations for members and their customers.”
