The key changes to the country’s Road Traffic Act are as follows:

● drivers who manipulate tachographs to have their driving licences withdrawn for 3-months

● a streamlined compensation process for the families of victims of fatal road accidents caused by dangerous driving,

● penalty points to drop off 2 years after the respective fines has been paid,

● the maximum number of penalty points per violation to increase from 10 to 15,

● Increased punishments for driving under the influence of alcohol (the minimum fine is to be around EUR 550) as well as imprisonment,

In addition to the above, fines for speeding, misconduct at level crossings, as well as driving without a licence, have all been increased.

According to Poland’s Ministry of Infrastructure “the money from the fines will go to road construction”.
