Traffic restrictions for trucks in Spanish tunnels. Check how much you’ll pay for breaking the ban

Soon, some of the Spanish roads will have quite complicated restrictions. The Police and Civil Guard will check if the truck drivers are complying with the new bans.

On Spanish roads near the French border – N-121-A, N-121-B and NA-1210 –  due to roadworks underway in the Belate and Almandoz tunnels, the traffic of heavy goods vehicles in transit with four or more axes will be limited.

Restrictions will apply between 6:00 and 22:00 from June 4 until July 15. However, there is an additional complication – the prohibition will depend on the registration numbers. Namely, between 4 and 10 June, only trucks with a registration number ending in an odd number will be able to navigate. In the next week, the opposite is true – trucks with even-numbered registration plates will be able to enter the tunnel. And so every week there will be a change in the alternating cycle.

The restrictions apply to roads:

N-121-A between kilometer 5.4 (roundabout at the Ezkaba Tunnels) and kilometer 66 (at the north entrance to Ber)

N-121-B (Oronoz Mugairi-Dantxarinea),

NA-1210 (Belate Port – all the way).

Such traffic organization is to allow for safe and as much as possible smooth traffic and access to the Belate port. For non-compliance with the restrictions, drivers will be punished with a fine of 200 euro.

On July 15, the region’s authorities will decide whether the restrictions will be extended.
