The campaign will focus on ensuring compliance with road safety regulations for heavy goods vehicles and buses, including adherence to driving hours, rest periods, vehicle technical standards, and load securing.

The Truck & Bus operation is part of ROADPOL’s annual enforcement strategy, which includes three dedicated campaigns each year. In 2025, the subsequent operations will be conducted from 5 to 11 May and from 17 to 23 November. These initiatives aim to improve road safety and ensure fair competition in the transport sector.

During the operation, motorway patrols from approximately 30 participating countries, including Italy, will carry out inspections. In some cases, the European Labour Authority (ELA) will support the checks, particularly in monitoring drivers’ working conditions.

Data from ELA regarding the third Truck & Bus campaign of 2024, held in November, indicate that 690 industrial vehicles were inspected, revealing 377 violations. These led to fines totalling over €230,000, with infractions related to driving and rest time violations, tachograph misuse, and missing documentation. Only 73 inspections resulted in no penalties.

ROADPOL’s broader 2025 enforcement calendar includes several other campaigns addressing key road safety concerns. These include operations focused on seatbelt compliance (10-16 March), speed enforcement (7-13 April and 4-10 August), and impaired driving (16-22 June and 15-21 December). Additionally, a new initiative targeting the safe use of two-wheel vehicles will be introduced in May.
