The £10m investment occupies a 7.8 acre plot and contains a fully operational workshop and parts department, with office accommodation and extensive secure parking. The building was recently used as a venue to host Scania’s Net Zero Conference, organised in the backdrop of COP26, where the company spoke about its sustainable agenda and plans for supporting decarbonisation.

Scania says the building is completely fossil free, and features a range of sustainable features including a high-efficiency underfloor Air-source heating system, sustainable drainage and environmental containment in accordance with local regulations, water recycling in its vehicle wash, LED lighting throughout and roof-mounted energy-generating photovoltaic panels.

This new facility will become the central hub for employees and customers of Scania Scotland.  The previous workshop at Bellshill has now closed and all employees have moved across to this new location.

Christian Levin, CEO & President of Scania and Traton, officially inaugurated the site when he visited earlier this month.

James Armstrong, Managing Director for Scania GB, said:

“We are extremely proud to open Eurocentral.  Scania has a clear vision to reduce its carbon footprint and by opening buildings of this kind with an array of sustainable features, it really shows how we are moving in the right direction.  It’s an extremely impressive building and will offer employees and customers a fantastic experience.”

James O’Rourke (known as Jasper), General Manager for Eurocentral commented:

“It is going to be an absolute pleasure to lead the team here at Eurocentral.  Everyone who has visited the site so far has been hugely impressed by the sheer size of our new building and the fact is it completely fossil free – not many companies can say that.  The team and I can’t wait to start welcoming our customers.”
