SeaRates has seen a significant increase in Less-than-Container-Load (LCL) bookings through its ‘Digital Forwarder’ platform, according to the company’s latest figures.

The reason for this increase is that smaller cargo owners now have access to streamlined logistics processes, real-time information and improved efficiency, facilitating smoother cargo movement, the company adds.

DP World said the partnership enables CP World to optimise container space and efficiently consolidate LCL shipments, delivering cost savings for shippers and contributing to a more sustainable global supply chain.

The collaboration has expanded access to competitive rates, up-to-date transit times, Container Freight Station (CFS) details, and sailing schedules across 1,000 destinations in regions including Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, the Pacific, the Middle East, and Central America.

From December to March 2024, there has been a notable increase in bookings, driven by demand from SMEs, startups, and individuals who need access to international trade but previously lacked the same benefits as larger companies. According to DP World, the digital platform for LCL shipments offers smaller customers more flexibility, supporting their growth.

“Our partnership with CP World has enabled us to cater to smaller cargo owners who require the same services as larger companies. Providing LCL shipments with real-time tracking and traceability through a digital platform is a significant advancement in creating sustainable, long-term supply chains for all,” said Mike Bhaskaran, COO of Digital Technology at DP World.

Ken Chiang, Group CEO of CP World, added:

“One year into our strategic partnership with SeaRates, we have observed substantial growth in bookings from smaller cargo owners. By offering a global LCL network with comprehensive ocean freight rates and services through an easy-to-use digital platform, we create sustainable solutions for all shippers, regardless of their size.”
