Brazilian trucking influencer Sheila Bellaver, who boasts 2.3 million followers on Instagram and 2.55 million YouTube subscribers, has become the centre of a storm concerning a botched raffle of one of her pink trucks.

Bellaver decided that her 2018 Scania and its accompanying refrigerated trailer, reportedly worth R$ 480,000.00 (roughly €91,500), would be the main prize in a raffle earlier this year.

As Metropoles reports, tickets for the raffle cost R$10 each (just under €2).

The hugely popular trucking influencer said that she needed to raise funds due to financial difficulties caused by the significant increase in interest payments and fuel in Brazil among other things. Bellaver also stated her intention to buy a lorry for her 20-year-old daughter, who has joined her in becoming a trucker (a purchase that has now been made).

Things didn’t quite go to plan with the raffle though, as Bellaver is said to have botched the draw by reading out the wrong winner. According to Brazilian trucking website Brazil do Trecho, Bellaver said that number 01255, belonging to Sebastião from Fortaleza, had won.

However, just hours later, Sebastião would learn that he had not indeed won the main prize.

During the live stream of the raffle, viewers reportedly challenged Bellaver about the handling of the draw, as number 07082 was said to have been picked first. Among those to complain was the owner of this ticket, Erechim, from Rio Grande do Sul.

After consulting with her lawyer, Bellaver then admitted she had announced the wrong winner. This resulted in the vehicle going to Erechim.

Brazil do Trecho reports that this news didn’t go down to well with Sebastião, whose family have now decided to file a lawsuit over the matter.

The Brazilian trucking website writes that Sebastião’s stepdaughter just happens to be a lawyer, and has kept evidence of the entire raffle process to support her case. It is claimed the family suspects the winner of the draw has links to Bellaver’s ex-husband.

A Brazilian YouTuber named ‘Brazil Portugal Official’, who has been following the raffle, also claims that another lawyer has attempted to have Bellaver’s raffle income blocked due to possible issues concerning legality and tax declaration.
