Snow and a massive storm hit Spain harshly during the weekend. The Spanish General Road Traffic Directorate (DGT) has announced weather alerts – black, red and yellow, which are equivalent to road closures for trucks.
The huge storm Gloria brought strong winds, heavy rains and massive snowfall on Sunday in Spain. Since yesterday many road sections are impassable. DGT has announced weather alerts – black, red and yellow – for over 150 road sections. The most significant difficulties occur in the eastern part of the country (the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Murcia).

You can check the current traffic conditions on Spanish roads on the website of DGT.
This is the key to the colours:
– Green – it’s just starting to rain. Trucks should only drive in the right lane. Lorry drivers can travel at a maximum speed of 100 km / h on motorways, and 80 km / h on carriage roads. Avoid mountain passes.
– Yellow – road surface partly covered with snow. Truck driving ban.
– Red – road surface is completely covered with snow. Truck driving ban.
– Black – road closed.
