Sesé, Repsol, Volkswagen Navarra, and Scania have jointly launched the first duo trailer in Spain powered by renewable fuel. The trailer, designed to cover high-capacity roads, will travel between Pamplona and Barcelona, covering a total of 4,500 km a week and reducing CO2 emissions by up to 90%.
The renewable fuel used is produced from agricultural and forestry waste, as well as used vegetable oils. The fuel meets all technical requirements and EU renewable energy directives without requiring any modifications to the vehicle.
Sesé has already conducted successful tests of single semi-trailers with this advanced biofuel, covering more than 550,000 km with reliable results and no incidents.
Sesé, which seeks to become an emission-neutral company by 2050, was the first company in Spain and southern Europe to introduce the duo trailer in 2018. The logistics solution provider currently has four duo trailers in its fleet, covering an average of 600,000 km annually and reducing total emissions by 30%. Scania has been working with renewable fuels in central and northern European countries for years and is committed to a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2025.
This project represents one more step towards achieving Scania’s decarbonization targets.
