In 30 villages and 3 cities in the north of Slovakia, a state of emergency was declared due to snowfall. In Sudeten mountains, there is avalanche risk level 4. Truck traffic was banned on several mountain passes.
The Fačkov pass (section I/64 between Nitrianske Pravno and the Fačkovské sedlo pass) is closed for vehicles over 10 meters long.
Following passes are closed for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes:
– Veľké Pole pass (road II/512 Oslany – Cerová),
– Šútovce pass (road III/1774),
– Skýcov pass (II/511).
As reported by the Slovak SSC road managing company, snow chains for vehicles over 3.5 tons are needed on road II/558 Stakčín – Ulič, on route III in the Stakčín area and for of all vehicles on the road II/584 Srdiečko – Bystrá.
In addition, all motorways and expressways monitored by the SSC in the Slovak Republic are open.
