The new tolls are applicable to tankers transporting petroleum products, liquefied petroleum, liquefied gas or chemicals. The same is true of cargo container ships, car ferries and passenger ships.
The 15% rise for 2024 mirrors the toll increase that was introduced in mid-January of this year.
However, according to the official Suez Canal Authority website, container ships coming directly from Northwestern European ports and heading directly to Far Eastern ports are exempt from the aforementioned 2024 increase.
When it comes dry bulk cargo and general cargo, as well as roll-on-roll-off vessels, the toll will increase by 5%.
