Collective pay agreement reached for lorry drivers in Sweden

A collective pay agreement between a Transport Worker's Union and road transport organisations in Sweden will see lorry drivers, warehouse and port staff net a pay rise of over 7.4%.

According to industry reports in Sweden, the vast majority of the staff who fall under the agreement will be paid more 7.4% more over a two year period. In some cases, the increases will be up to 9.1%.

In the first year, salaries will increase between SEK 1,080 and 1,500 per month. A year later, wages will increase between SEK 900 and 1124 per month.

The agreement is for 2 years and applies from 1 April this year. The deal covers employees working in haulage, at ports and at warehouses.

Commenting on the deal, Tommy Wreeth, Chairman of the Transport Union, said:

“In a difficult time, we have passed through historically high salary increases for the members of Transport. We have stood up for the industry and our members in the toughest negotiation situation ever. I have always said money, money, money and some more – we have arranged that.”
