From July 1, 2021, more expensive tolls will apply to the older Euro IV and Euro V trucks in Switzerland. This was decided by the Swiss Federal Council during a meeting on January 20th, 2021.
Due to the fact that the toll increase also affects international traffic, the decision also had to be approved at EU level, but this took place during talks held in December 2020.
The result of this is that the EURO classes IV and V / EEV have been downgraded and shifted to the most expensive tax category.
By taking such a step, the Swiss Federal Council wants to continue its environmental policy and ensure the protection of the Alps.
