The vehicle and its driver, both from Bulgaria, were subject to an inspection on December 19th at a control point by the road roll on the A4 motorway in Mysłowice.
During the inspection, data on the tachograph printout showed that two cards belonging to two different drivers had been used. In addition, the card belonging to the 1st driver was logged in the slot intended for the 2nd driver, who should have been resting while his colleague was driving.

Further analysis of the tachograph records from the previous four weeks determined that this was almost a routine practice for the driver.
As one would expect, numerous violations of drivers’ hours rules were found. For the offenses committed, the driver was fined a total of 6,900zł (€1,482). In addition, his driving licence was confiscated for three months, while the tachograph card that did not belong to him was also taken.
The driver’s employer did not escape punishment either. It was handed the maximum penalty possible – 12,000zł (€2,577). On top of this, the boss of the company faces a fine of 2,500zł (€537) for installing a magnet and switch for the driver to manipulate the truck’s tachograph.
