Due to the excessive heat in Ukraine and the capital of Moldova, Chisinau, the truck traffic is restricted.
Ukraine
In Ukraine the restriction is in force during the entire summer and applies to asphalt public roads. If the temperature exceeds +28°c, trucks weighing more than 24 tonnes with axle load over 7 tonnes will not be allowed to drive on the roads from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Ukraine trucks cause damages to roads of 430 million per year. That is why a similar restriction is of the utmost importance to the authorities.
Moldova
Similar restrictions have also been introduced by Moldova. So far only in the capital, Chisinau. They apply to vehicles of over 20 tonnes and only when the temperature exceeds +30°C. The restriction will also apply from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Restrictions do not apply to the transport of food and buses carrying passengers.
By the end of June Moldova declared a state of emergency (yellow). All because of high temperature which reaches up to +37°C.
