Bulgarian police uses additional penalties for drivers who do not follow the summer traffic ban for heavy goods vehicles. In addition to a fine of 300 Leva (about EUR 150) also an administrative penalty can be used against drivers.

The amendment to the road code in Bulgaria provides for two additional penalties a driver can get for a violation of a truck traffic ban:

  • withdrawal of driving license for one month;
  • a ban on driving for three months;

A partial traffic restriction for vehicles with GVW of over 12 t is in force in Bulgaria from 7 July to 15 September. It applies to certain hours and road sections and does not apply to the transport of:

  • perishable products;
  • products which require special temperature maintenance;
  • ADR loads;
  • animals;
