The amendment to the regulation will allow the transport of carcasses of pigs and small ruminants. However, approval of the relevant authorities will be needed. The new provisions will come into force at the end of the year.

The proposal initiated by the French association of meat industry entrepreneurs Culture Viande with IFIP, ANSES and DGAL with support at the European level – UECBV (European Livestock & Meat Trading Union) was positively adopted by the European Commission. The draft published by Culture Viande on July 4 regarding the amendment of EC 853/2004 was voted for and will allow for the transport of carcasses of pigs and small ruminants in the core temperature not exceeding 7ºC. However, it will be allowed only with the consent of certain authorities.
