The Minimum Wage Commission proposed new rates. The amount of the statutory minimum wage in Germany will increase in 2019 and in 2020. This is important information for carriers posting drivers to the territory of this country.

The so-called MiLoG, or the German Minimum Wage Act, has been in force since January 1, 2015. At that time, the statutory minimum wage was 8.5 euro per hour (gross). In January 2017 this amount was raised to 8.84 euro.

Two consecutive increases

Today, the commission, consisting of representatives of trade unions, employers, chairmen, and scientists, proposed a two-step raise of the threshold.

According to her recommendations, the minimum wage will increase to January 9, 2019, to 9.19 euro per hour, and at the beginning of 2020 will reach 9.35 euro.

This first raise will mean a salary higher by 55 euros (gross) for a 40-hour week.

The government usually accepts the Commission’s recommendations, so the hikes are almost certain.
