This fully autonomous electric truck can travel almost 200 km. T-log truck is another model produced by the Swedish company Einride, which released the T-pod a year ago. The new truck model immediately made the news.
T-log was shown for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed held in Great Britain. It is a fully autonomous truck for special tasks, designed mainly to navigate through forest roads.

What immediately catches the eye is the lack of a cab and a 7.3-meter-long truck structure. At the back, there are vertical brackets designed to safely hold the logs on the loading platform. The engineers also strengthened the suspension and chassis to allow the truck to cope with heavier loads and harder forest roads. T-log uses an electric drive system with 300 kWh battery capacity and a range of 120 miles (about 200 km). Its gross vehicle weight is 16 tonnes.
In spite of the lack of a cab to operate a truck, you will still need a man. Thanks to the remote control option, the vehicle can be operated by the operator from a distance of hundreds of miles. All thanks to Telantation security technology from Phantom Auto.
The producer has not yet revealed the price of the vehicle. However, it is known that the pre-T-log on roads is expected to appear already in 2020.

Mute consent to social dumping?
The driver’s cabin makes the trucks expensive to produce and hiring drivers makes the operating cost go significantly up. Remove the cabin and replace the driver with an operator who can monitor and remotely control several vehicles at the same time. Then the costs can be significantly reduced. In addition, servicing the vehicle from a distance allows you to create better working conditions “- Robert Falck, CEO of Einride, advertises the company’s latest release.
What may be disturbing for professional drivers is the fact that someone who is definitely cheaper may be employed in their place, in this case. It is also not known yet whether a driving license will be needed to operate a T-log. In this case, for example, an employee not from Europe who works for a lower salary may prove to be a competitor to a professional driver. They both do the same job, but the costs of employing a foreigner from another continent can be much smaller.
Autonomous trucks
Some enter the market with a new product, others withdraw from it. This is the case with Uber, which decided to completely abandon the idea of producing autonomous trucks.
We decided to stop working on autonomous trucks and focus only on passenger cars,” said Eric Meyhofer, head of Uber Advanced Technologies Group.
The decision is surprising. Uber has already taken the first steps to appear on the freight market and trucks were already in a testing phase on highways in Arizona, providing logistics services. In addition, the company released the Uber Freight application, which gives the opportunity to manage a fleet of autonomous vehicles.
The official reason for the decision taken by the company’s management is not known. But it might be related to a recent fatal accident cause by an Uber autonomous car. At that time, problems also began with the testing of new trucks in Arizona. The local government issued a categorical ban for fear of the safety of the residents.
