Due to safety reasons, the General Directorate of Road Traffic (DGT) will introduce new traffic bans for heavy goods vehicles this year.

Soon, trucks with a GVM of more than 7.5t and four or more axles will not be able to navigate three national roads in Spain. According to the ecodiario.es portal, the bans will apply to N-124, N-232 (La Rioja), and N-340. It is about increasing safety – there are many accidents taking place on these routes.

These bans are new to the DGT resolution on the action plan to improve road safety. The document was published on Wednesday in the Spanish Official Journal (BOE).

Restrictions for vehicles over 7.5t on N340 between Nules and Oropesa were already applied in 2016, due to the large number of accidents.

As reported by ecodiario.es, this year the bans should also be expected on N-124 between Briñas and Gimileo and on N-232 between Gimileo and Alfaro.

The exact date of the introduction of the bans is not known yet. We will keep you updated.
