Truck bans in Europe this autumn

Various truck bans are in force across Europe in the coming weeks in connection with different public holidays. Here is a summary of what applies where and when:

October 26th

Austria – from 0:00 to 22:00. The restriction covers tractors with trailers with a GVW of a tractor or trailer over 3.5 tons, lorries and articulated vehicles with a GVW exceeding 7.5 tons.

Italy – from 0:00 to 22:00. The prohibition applies to the section from Vipiteno to the Austrian border for vehicles traveling northward.

October 28th

Czech Republic – from 13:00 to 22:00. The restrictions apply to trucks and vehicle combinations with a DMC above 7.5 tonnes.

October 31st

Croatia – from 15:00 to 23:00. The bans apply to heavy goods vehicles and sets with a DMC above 7.5 tons as well as trucks and vehicles with trailers exceeding 14 m in length. 

France – from 22:00 to 00:00. The traffic ban for trucks applies to vehicles with a DMC exceeding 7.5 tons.

Luxembourg – on the roads towards Germany the ban is in force from From 0:00 to 21:45 and from 23:30 to 24:00. On the roads towards France, from 00:00 to 24:00. The restrictions apply to vehicles with a DMC above 7.5 t with or without a trailer.

Germany – from 0:00 to 22:00. The holiday is celebrated only in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, but there is a Sunday traffic ban throughout the country.

Poland – from 18:00 to 22:00. The ban applies to heavy goods vehicles with a DMC above 12 tons.

Slovenia – from 8 to 22. The traffic ban applies to heavy goods vehicles and vehicle combinations with a GVW exceeding 7.5 tonnes.

Hungary – from 22:00 to 24:00. The ban applies to heavy trucks and agricultural tractors with trailers above 7.5 tons.

November 1st

Austria – from 0:00 to 22:00. 

Croatia – from 14:00 to 23:00.

France – from 0:00 to 22:00.

Luxembourg – from 0:00 to 21:45.

Germany – from 0:00 to 22:00. The ban will apply only to the following federal states:

  • Baden-Württemberg,
  • Bavaria,
  • North Rhine-Westphalia,
  • Rhineland-Palatinate,
  • Saarland.

Poland – from 8:00 to 22:00.

Slovakia – from 0:00 to 22:00, heavy goods vehicles with a DMC above 7.5 t, as well as heavy goods vehicles with a DMC above 3.5 tons with a trailer or semi-trailer, will not be allowed to drive.

Slovenia – from 8:00 to 22:00.

Hungary – from 0:00 to 22:00

Italy – from 9:00 to 22:00.

November 10th

Poland – from 18:00 to 22:00.

November 11th

Poland – from 8:00 to 22:00.

France – from 0:00 to 22:00

November 17th

Croatia – from 15:00 to 23:00.

Czech Republic – from 13:00 to 22:00.

Slovakia – from 0:00 to 22:00

November 18th

Croatia – from 14:00 to 23:00.
