In Oregon, USA, a 22-year-old trucker was tasked with transporting a load of potato chips. On the way, he got lost in the forest for four days. Even in this extreme situation, the young driver, despite his hunger, did not touch the transported goods.

Jacob Cartwright, the driver of the Little Trees Transportation company, was on his way from Portland to Nyssa after receiving the freight order. Not knowing the region of delivery well, he decided to enter the destination in GPS. Unfortunately, the navigation system showed him the wrong route. Jacob landed in a fairly remote and hilly area. He did not know if he was going in the right direction. When the 22-year-old realized that he had lost his way, it was already the middle of the night, according to the CNN portal.

When the trucker finally decided to turn back, his truck began to slide dangerously down towards the steep embankment. It was unfortunate that the truck was stuck on a snowy and muddy road. Without access to a telephone, Jacob decided he would go on foot in the direction shown by GPS. He did not have water or food with him. The 22-year-old began to traverse the surrounding forest in search of help. He wandered like that for four days.

Jacob told me that during the last, fourth night, he squeezed into a log lying on the ground to protect himself from the loss of heat and shelter from capricious weather” – says Roy A. Henry, owner of Little Trees Transportation.

The police were looking for Cartwright and his truck for four days after reporting the disappearance. Finally, Jacob was found. He managed to get to the main road where an accidental driver drove him home. The 22-year-old was immediately transported to the hospital.

He learned to respect other’s property at home

Everyone was amazed at the attitude of the trucker. The owner of the company in which Jacob works, wondered why his driver, in such an extreme situation, having a truck full of potato chips, did not open a single package.

These things are worth a lot. This is the load I’m carrying – I’m not going to touch it” – said Cartwright. – I was brought up in this way. The things I transport do not belong to me, so I do not touch them” – explained the trucker.
