CERN scientists – the European Organization for Nuclear Research, develop a protective system for antimatter, which is to be used to transport these antiparticles from one laboratory to another. The system will be installed on special trucks that will carry antimatter in 2022.

Scientists are planning to create a cloud consisting of a billion antiprotons that can be stored in a vacuum for several weeks. After this time the cloud will be transported from the scientific complex with synchrotron (a type of accelerator) to the place of experiment with radioactive isotopes, or elements, called radionuclides.

Physicians reassure that despite the fact that antimatter in the contact with ordinary matter will explode, in this case, if a failure occurs, the explosion will be very weak. It produces energy of less than one joule, which has an effect on the external body over a distance of about 1 meter.

A greater risk is the possibility of destroying the sample due to unforeseen sources of radiation.

Antimatter transport is planned for 2022.
