Tyrol announces further dates for lorry block handling at German-Austrian border

The Tyrolean government has published a new calendar for lorry block handling measures at the German-Austrian border.

For the second half of this year, the Tyrolean authorities have scheduled 16 block handling days at the Kiefersfelden/Kufstein border crossing. The government chooses the days with the highest traffic volume, usually before and after holidays or holidays after weekends.

Block handling on the following days starts at 5 am and usually finishes around midday. Lorries will be allowed through in blocks of 250-300 every hour.

In the second half of this year, block handlings will happen on the following days:

  • 1 July (Monday),
  • 8 July (Monday),
  • 15 July (Monday),
  • 22 July (Monday),
  • 29 July (Monday),
  • 4 October (Friday),
  • 28 October (Monday),
  • 5 November (Tuesday),
  • 6 November (Wednesday),
  • 13 November (Wednesday),
  • 20 November (Wednesday),
  • 27 November (Wednesday),
  • 3 December (Tuesday),
  • 4 December (Wednesday),
  • 10 December (Tuesday),
  • 11 December (Wednesday).

As you can see, July and November will be the most intense, with five days of restrictions each month.

Upcoming block handlings

The next block handling will take place in two weeks, on 28 March. 

Here are the remaining dates for block handlings at the Kieferfelden/Kufstein border for the first half of the year:

– 26 April,

– 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 31 May.
