A video has been widely circulated on social media showing some unsecured cargo slicing into the vehicle’s cabin during braking. Fortunately the driver escaped with only minor injuries.
This recording comes from China. The truck is seen braking sharply just before a pedestrian crossing. At that moment, a huge steel plate, not secured in any way, slides forward and hits the cabin at speed.
The driver miraculously survived. Since he wore a seatbelt, he was not thrown out of the cabin. He remained trapped inside, but was soon rescued and only suffered minor injuries, reports aol.co.uk.
The video has been circulated around the world, but understandably the pictures are tough to watch. That said, they do act as a reminder of the dangers presented by not securing loads properly.
Unfortunately, there are examples of this happening on Europe’s roads too. A case in point is the photo submitted to a popular Polish Facebook page earlier this week.
As you can see, the truck is carrying goods on several pallets secured at the very end with one just strap. It is easy to guess what could happen in the event of sudden braking or sharp cornering.
