Volvo’s first fully electric truck, FL Electric, is now on offer. As the creators promise, it is mainly a vehicle for use in urban conditions.

We are extremely proud that we can present the first fully electric Volvo vehicle, ready for regular use. Thanks to this, cities that strive for sustainable development can take advantage of electric trucks” – says Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo Trucks.

The cars will be available for regular use from next year. The first two FL Electric trucks will be operated by a garbage recovery and recycling company and Renova and TGM transport company. The sales will initially run only in Europe.

Two hours charging time

FL Electric can cover about 300 kilometers on one charge. Energy consumption is estimated at 100 kWh per 100 km. The permissible gross vehicle weight is 16 tons and its electric motor is to achieve a maximum power of 185 kW.

The car will store energy in lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 100-300 kWh. The time of charging from empty to fully charged has been divided into two variants:
quick charging – from one hour to two (charging with direct current),
night charging – up to 10 hours (alternating current charging).

The company’s announcements indicate that FL Electric is the first of the entire range of e-trucks that Volvo has prepared.
