In recent years we have begun to see parcel locker providers introduce more use cases for their lockers, something that was exemplified by InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska yesterday.

Writing on LinkedIn, Brzoska revealed that InPost had installed a locker in front of the security gates at Warsaw Chopin Airport. The parcel locker allows passengers to temporarily store and then send items that they were not permitted to take onboard their flight.

The items can then be shipped to another parcel locker, PUDO, or a person’s home address.

“I think you have encountered the situation whereby suddenly at the airport during security control, it turns out that you have things in your bag/suitcase that you should have checked in to your hold luggage and you just have to throw away? Well, we’ve solved this problem. From now on, passengers departing from Warsaw Chopin Airport will be able to send items via an InPost Parcel Locker that cannot be carried in hand luggage, e.g. sharp tools or liquids over 100 ml. Relax! We will save your things!,” wrote the InPost CEO.

Brzoska added that the service has already been tested for several months and works.

Those that wish to take advantage of the service can access packaging materials next to locker, and then use the InPost Mobile app to send their parcel.

Anyone who isn’t familiar with the process can also ask the staff at the airport for help, as they have also received training on how system works.
