ZF presents commercial vehicle hybrid transmission TraXon 2

German automotive technology supplier ZF has introduced a new hybrid transmission, the TraXon 2 Hybrid, to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the advantages of combustion engines. The TraXon 2 Hybrid is part of ZF’s TraXon family and is designed to support the transition towards decarbonised mobility in the commercial vehicle sector.

ZF’s product range includes the vehicle motion control system cubiX, next-generation electric drives such as CeTrax 2 and AxTrax 2, and braking systems. The AxTrax 2 can be integrated into trailers, converting them into hybrids and extending the range of electric vehicles.

The company also offers an E-Mobility Kit for zero-emissions vehicles, which includes central drives, electric axles, and systems suitable for both battery electric and fuel cell applications.

ZF’s digital fleet orchestration platform, SCALAR, uses AI for real-time decision-making and efficiency improvements, while the cubiX vehicle motion control system is said to enhance vehicle stability and safety by translating virtual driving instructions into real commands.

“In developing the TraXon 2 Hybrid, we demonstrate how synergies across our divisions enable us to address customer needs swiftly and flexibly to create viable technologies to decarbonise commercial vehicles efficiently,” said Professor Dr. Peter Laier, Member of the ZF Board of Management and responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division. “In doing so, we not only meet the shifting needs of the industry but also position ZF as a strong and reliable partner that is setting the pace of transformation with a very flexible portfolio and a very flexible production.”
