After the collapse of Ziegler businesses in France and Belgium, another part of the logistics group’s European network is changing hands. This time, however, the Dutch, German and Swiss operations are not being placed into bankruptcy, but moved into a UK-linked management buyout structure.

Ziegler Nederland said that Eaglets Holding, based in the United Kingdom, has acquired a majority stake in Ziegler Nederland B.V. and Ziegler Deutschland GmbH, as well as 100% of Ziegler Schweiz AG.

According to the company, the transaction forms part of a management buyout by an experienced team already familiar with the businesses, their employees, customers and markets.

The Dutch company said the move is intended to create a “strong, independent and long-term focused logistics platform” covering the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The transaction follows several months of turmoil around the Ziegler network in Europe:

  • In France, Ziegler France and Satra were placed into judicial liquidation by the Lille Commercial Court at the end of March, resulting in the loss of around 1,500 jobs. The French collapse marked one of the largest recent failures in the country’s logistics sector.
  • Belgium followed in June, when Ziegler SA, Intertrans, Dornach and Universal Express filed for bankruptcy at the Brussels Commercial Court. Part of the former Belgian business has since been rescued through separate takeover deals. Intertrans, one of the former Ziegler SA subsidiaries, was bought out by its own management team, led by CEO Eddy Allaert, securing the future of 150 employees.

Against that background, Ziegler Nederland is stressing continuity. The company said existing contracts, contact persons, services and operational processes remain unchanged. It also said the recent developments in Belgium relate only to the companies concerned there and do not affect operations in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK or Ireland.

Ziegler Nederland added that Eaglets had already acquired the former Ziegler Group businesses in the UK and Ireland earlier this year.

The UK side of the restructuring had already begun earlier. Companies House filings show that Aquila Strategic Limited became a person with significant control of Eaglets Limited on 16 March 2026, while Silvamex AG and Balspeed AG ceased to hold that position on the same date. The same filing history also shows the resignation of Alain Robert Ziegler as a director of Eaglets on 16 March and the appointment of Joshua David Leak on the same day.

Rather than a single group-wide rescue, the Ziegler network is increasingly being reorganised through separate national and regional transactions. In Belgium, this has involved insolvency proceedings and local rescue deals. In the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and Ireland, the stated aim is to continue trading under an independent management-led platform.
