The agreement allows hauliers to travel between the two countries without the need for permits as of September 1st. The deal will remain in place until the end of June next year.
The agreement also includes bilateral trade and the transit of goods to other countries.
However, one limitation of the agreement is that the vehicles used by Ukrainian hauliers must meet at least Euro 5 standards. A certificate is also required in order to prove this.
Ukrainian companies whose vehicles are below the minimum standards will have to apply for one of the 300 available permits.
Commenting, Norway’s Deputy Infrastructure Minister, Serhii Derkach, said:
“We continue to create favorable conditions for our carriers. We are expanding the list of states with which we have instituted visa-free transport, currently including 35 countries.”
Up until now, Ukrainian cargo carriers could travel to Norway only with specific permits. Since September, they will be allowed in without the necessary authorization, provided their vehicles fit the environmental classification Euro-5 or higher.
