Oldest truckstop in the UK acquired by Certas Energy

The Roadside Services division of Certas Energy has announced the acquisition of Roadking (Hollies) Cannock truckstop in the West Midlands - said to be the oldest truckstop in the country.

In a statement, Certas Energy said it was the first time the business had a acquired a truckstop. The company adds that the acquisition is “strategically important to the development of the company’s Roadside Services offer.”

In addition, Certas Energy states that the facility will be developed and will “bring together SNAP Account, Fuel Cards and Retail expertise to offer a safer, easier and more seamless experience for HGV drivers and Fleet Managers.”

Certas Energy are the largest independent distributor of fuel and lubricants in the UK. The company already has a 24-hour HGV refuelling bunker on the site of the truckstop.

Situated just off J12 on the M6, the Roadking Cannock site is the oldest truckstop in the UK and is described as an “institution within the transport industry” by Certas Energy. The truckstop currently enjoys a rating of 8/10 on Booking.com and 4.4/5 on Google Maps.

Besides offering toilets and showers, the facility has a 24-hour restaurant and bar as well as accomodation options and free wi-fi.

Commenting on the acquisition, Richard Billington, Managing Director of Certas Energy Roadside Services, said:

We are delighted to be able to expand our SNAP Account facilities, Fuel Card and Retail facilities across this popular, long-standing site and look forward to working with all at the facilities”
