The average speed cameras will be placed on four highways; the A1, A25, A3 and A42. There will also be cameras on the EN10, EN109 and EN211, IC19 and IC2.

In addition to the 37 radars speed cameras that will come into operation on September 1, there are also plans for another 25 to be installed in due course at undeclared locations.

Fenadismer has shared with its members a series of regionalised maps that pinpoint where the speed cameras are. You can find them all here.

“The operational schedule of the speed cameras throughout the country is not known, nor will it be possible to know if they are in operation or not. However, the National Road Safety Authority ensures that these speed cameras will always be properly identified,” writes Fenadismer.

Speeding was the cause of over 50% of all total traffic offenses committed in Portugal in 2022.
