100 km on full batteries. DAF presents its first electric truck

After Volvo electric truck another manufacturer is releasing its model of an e-truck. The Dutch company DAF presented its first electric vehicle. The creators of the CF Electric model announce that it will travel 100 km on full batteries.

The new project of the DAF group is the result of cooperation with the VDL Groep which specializes in the design of automated and electrified vehicles. Cars created under the name of both companies are equipped with the latest E-Power VDL technology, which ensures zero emission and very low noise. According to the producers, this is an ideal solution for urban deliveries taking place at night.

The test trucks will be manufactured at DAF facilities, while the delivery of electrical installations will be provided by VDL Groep. The first batch of the CF Electric truck series is expected to be ready this year.

Full charge in 1.5 hours

CF Electric is a 4 × 2 tractor unit with a loading capacity of up to 40 tons in urban areas, where single or two-axle trailers are standard. The center of the intelligent drive system is the 210 kW electric motor, which draws energy from the lithium-ion battery with a total capacity of 170 kWh.

The CF Electric has a range of around 100 kilometers with a fully charged battery. According to the manufacturer, this is a sufficient distance for applications in large distribution. Charging the batteries is very simple and takes about 30min minimum. To charge the batteries 100 percent it takes 1,5 hours.
